Bimatoprost (Generic Xlash)
Bimatoprost solution is a treatment for hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker. Bimatoprost is believed to affect the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways: first, it increases the length of this phase; and second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase. This product can also be used to lower pressure within the eyeball (for example in glaucoma).

Frequently asked Questions about Bimatoprost
How does Bimatoprost work?
This is a tricky question carried by most FAQ on bimatoprost. While FDA has approved this novel treatment, there is very little known about how exactly Bimatoprost works. Its active ingredient bimatoprost is a lipid compound known as a structural prostaglandin analog. Its effect is seen in the form of binding of prostaglandin (PG) receptors. It is believed that the effect of Bimatoprost is through these PG receptors, which are possibly responsible for the growth process of the hair follicles.
Side Effects of Bimatoprost.
Bimatoprost side effects are commonly seen in the form of itching or redness in the eye. These symptoms generally go away after few days of regular dosage application. Some other Bimatoprost side effects that have been observed at the site of application include darkening of the skin, eye dryness and irritation, and reddening of the eyelids. These conditions too are not too severe as long as the doctor prescribed dose of Bimatoprost is followed.
However, in certain cases of overdose or with sensitive patients, there have also been dangerous effects including ocular reactions. If you face any such issue, you should immediately talk to you doctor about a dosage adjustment or other medical alternatives. There is no information available about the effect of Bimatoprost during pregnancy and so such women are advised to avoid using this medication.
Guidelines before taking Bimatoprost.
Bimatoprost comes with a free applicator that could be used less than 20 times. We sell a package of 30 and 60 applicators, if you do not have applicators in hand you could use regular Qtips. Make sure to dispose them correctly and away from children access. Bimatoprost should be applied once-daily to the upper eyelid only; there should be no application to the lower eyelid. While it is meant to be applied only to the eyelid, there is no danger if Bimatoprost gets into the eye. However, it might lead to darkening of your iris. Bimatoprost is meant to be used long term for proper growth of eyelashes; if you stop using Bimatoprost then your eyelashes will return to their normal growth cycle gradually.
What are the common dosages of Bimatoprost?
Bimatoprost is available in a 3ml pack and it come with a free applicator (buy extra applicators here). The solution of Bimatoprost generally contains 0.03% of the active ingredient bimatoprost.
Difference between Brand and Generic Bimatoprost.
